Gold Plated Jewelry
Gold plating is a process where a thin layer of real gold is placed over a base metal like brass, copper, or silver. This gives the jewelry a bright, warm yellow or rose gold color. It makes luxury styles look very affordable. People who love classic gold looks can buy these pieces at a lower cost. However, gold plating can wear down over time with daily use.
Rhodium Plated Jewelry
Rhodium plating is a different kind of finish. Rhodium is a rare metal that belongs to the platinum family. It is very hard, shiny, and bright silver-white. When a designer puts rhodium over silver or white gold, it stops the metal from turning dark or tarnishing. It also protects the jewelry from scratching easily. Many modern white jewelry designs use rhodium plating to keep a clean, mirror-like shine.
Two-Tone Styles
Some advanced design lists even show two-tone jewelry. This means the designer mixes gold plating and rhodium plating on the exact same piece. For example, a ring might have a yellow gold band with a rhodium-plated white center holding a gemstone. This creates a striking contrast that catches the eye.
